SAI 101 – More About Linework

Although there's not much more to explain about the linework in SAI, I did wanted to mention one more thing to complete the tutorial

There's something that caught my attention a lot when working with vectors in SAI, and it's the way they look, in every other program that I know of these don't have any type of “effect”, because vectors by definition have to be plain colors, however in SAI they have a pixelated border.

What does this mean? That although the options of brush shape and texture are blocked, you can still change the appearance of the lineart by changing the type of brush you're using, located on the next dialog

With these icons we can get our brush to have a softer or harder border, it's not a great change, but it does allow some flexibility when inking.


It occurs to me that you can think of the vector in SAI as a kind of skeleton that holds up the line, and that structure can be modified in direction and shape.

Curso Básico de SAI – Más Acerca del Linework

Aunque no quedaba mucho que explicar acerca del linework en SAI, si quería mencionar una cosa más para completar el tutorial.

Hay algo que me llama la atención mucho de los vectores en SAI y es la manera en la que se ven, en todos los demás programas de vectores que conozco estos no tienen ningún tipo de “efecto”, puesto que por definición tienen que ser de colores planos, sin embargo en SAI tienen un borde pixelado.

¿Qué significa esto? Que aunque las opciones de forma del pincel y textura están bloqueadas, aún así se puede cambiar la apariencia del delineado cambiando el tipo de pincel que se ocupa localizando el cuadro a continuación.

Con estos íconos podemos lograr que nuestro pincel tenga un borde más blando o duro, no es un gran cambio, pero si permite cierta flexibilidad a la hora de entintar.


Se me ocurre que uno puede pensar en el vector de SAI como en un esqueleto que sostiene la línea, y este esqueleto puede ser modificado en dirección y forma.
